A Brief History of this Site and its Founder 

DRPLANNING.ORG is a "living appendix" to Disaster Recovery Planning, 3rd Edition, by Jon William Toigo, which was published in 2002 by Prentice Hall PTR and remains today a best selling title in the field of DRP and BCP.

The site was originally conceived as a follow-on to Toigo's Disaster Avoidance and Recovery Information Group (DARING), one of the first disaster recovery planning user groups in the United States. Passionate about the need for better information about planning techniques, Toigo sought to leverage the growing power of the Internet to offer a virtual community environment that was not constrained by calendars, clocks or geography and to provide a resource that could reach the broadest possible audience.

This site first went on line on 17 November 1999. It has been completely revamped several times since then, the latest revision occurring in June 2008.
